The speaker was Kim Ji-seok, Senior Energy and Climate Change Officer at British Embassy in Seoul and the author of the book, Climate Recession.

This first lecture was aimed at providing awareness about the seriousness of social problems caused by climate change. He suggested that in comparison with the pre-industrialization era, the environment will become so depleted and dangerous that it will be hard for people to survive, even supposing the average temperature of the earth goes up by only 2 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrialization times. In addition, Kim explained 7 ongoing lawsuits based on the various perspectives of the world’s nations. The lecture was an opportunity for Korean lawyers to better understand the international components of the projected lawsuits to redress climate change.
