Eco-culture Lecture Series

Continuing on the previous Culture of Life Forum’s Lecture Series from before the foundation of People For Earth Forum, speakers are invited to give talks on specific themes every other month. These regular events are not only just lectures, but dialogs and an arena for friendship and interaction. The members play the role of a host creating the events themselves and are encouraged to invite guests. Past talks have included diverse themes to do with music, art, spirituality, life science, and architecture.

On October 9, Attorney at law Hyejin Jung was invited to talk about her new book 〈When Name Becomes Law〉 in Eco-culture Lecture Series. ‘How much do we owe to other people's names!’ Lawyer Hyejin Jung, who is also the director of Earth Jurisprudence Center of People for Earth, tried to answer this question through this book. Some names become laws to protect workers from danger, to save victims of long-term unsolved murder cases, or to protect the weak. Yongkyun Kim, Taewan, Hara Goo, Minsik, Sewon Yim, Sarang, Kwanhong Kim are such names. As such, she talked about the process of telling seven stories that what happened to an individual became an event that changed the values of our times. A special guest, author Minseop Kim, who wrote 'I Wish You Well' also talked about the project "Looking for Minseop Kim" that caused a stir on social media a few years ago. The story touched the hearts of many people who attended the book talk show by telling the unimaginable but numerous miracle experiences that were once again created by meeting as just as names.
